Starting drom 17.06, registration for a temporary adaptation program for Ukrainian war refugees who have received temporary protection began. The Police and Border Guard Board will send a referral letter to the first 2,500 adults who have received temporary protection.

“The aim of the adaptation program is to support Ukrainian refugees who have been granted temporary protection by providing them with knowledge on issues related to the functioning of the Estonian state and society, daily life, work, study and family. With compulsory basic language learning, the adaptation program ensures the smooth integration of Ukrainians who have fled the war into Estonian society in both the short and long term,” said Piret Hartman, Undersecretary of Cultural Diversity of the Ministry of Culture.

The recipient of temporary protection must register for the programme independently in the web environment www.settleinestonia.ee. The provider of the 1-day training program of the adaptation program is Expat Relocation Estonia OÜ, which will train up to 10,000 people during the next 6 months. The company is a long-term provider of an adjustment programme for those arriving with regular migration, and more than 11,000 people have participated in the programme in the last 6 years.

The supplementary budget for 2022 will support the adaptation program with € 4.6 million. A call for tenders will be launched this summer to find additional providers for 10,000 additional adaption programme participants. In addition, beneficiaries of temporary protection will have the opportunity to undergo adaptation program training as an independent video training. A tender is being prepared to find the producer of the educational videos.

The Integration Foundation is concluding agreements for the provision of A1-level Estonian language training to beneficiaries of temporary protection. Registration for language courses starts in July in the web environment www.settleinestonia.ee. The supplementary budget for 2022 will support the language learning of the adaptation program with € 4.5 million.
